Last night (Sunday, March 18th, 2012) there was a brazen home burglary on Overland Dr. about 11pm. The intruder walked into home through the laundry/garage door into the kitchen.

The homeowners were in the living room when their dogs started growling, but they thought the wind had blown the door open, as THE GARAGE DOOR WAS LEFT OPEN. The homeowner got up to check it out and confronted a masked intruder in the kitchen. The intruder fled the home with a purse. No one at the home was injured.

The homeowner called 911 and the Police responded with incredible speed. They found an unlocked vehicle in garage and another unlocked vehicle in front of house that had been accessed.

The intruder attempted to use the credit cards in Saginaw, but the homeowners had already called the credit card companies and deactivated them.

The intruder is a Hispanic male and was wearing a grey hoodie with a blue surgical mask covering his face.

From the homeowner “Moral to story.... Shut garage doors especially after dark, light driveways and porches and lock doors Lake Country.”

Reminders:

1)      Close your garage doors.

2)      Take your garage door openers out of your cars parked in the driveway (they give easy access to thieves).

3)      Light the outside of your home at night.

4)      Get to know your neighbors; they are your first line of defense.

5)      Don’t hesitate to call 911 to get fast help.

6)      Join Code Blue; your neighborhood crime watch.

See the report in the NPO weekly report.
